IP Rating

Minimum IP44 for anywhere shielded from direct rain, IP65 for anywhere directly exposed. All fittings used are rated for their location — no interior downlights repurposed for exterior use.

Colour Temperature

Warm white (2700–3000K) is the default for residential properties — it matches interior warm lighting seen through windows and complements the finish of most Scottish housing. Cool white (4000K+) is available if you specifically want a modern / commercial look.

Beam Angle & Spacing

Wider beam angles (60°+) give softer, more even illumination across the elevation. Spacing is typically 1.2–1.5m for a continuous wash of light on a two-storey elevation; wider for accent lighting only.

Controls

Options: simple switch, dusk-to-dawn photocell (comes on at dusk, off at dawn automatically), PIR sensor (motion-activated), or a combination — most useful is a switched-and-dusk-to-dawn setup so you can override manually.

Cable Routing

Wherever the soffit configuration allows, cable is run cleanly in the roof space and dropped into the fitting from above — no external cable clips, no exposed runs down the wall. Where loft access isn't possible, cable is routed in matched-colour PVC trunking.

Materials Costs
